Metrocluster with EMC SRDF Version B.01.00.00 Release Notes

Hardware requirements
EMC Symmetrix Hardware Requirements
The following Symmetrix series are supported with Metrocluster/SRDF:
Symmetrix “6” (DMX Series)
800
1000
2000
3000
Symmetrix “7” (DMX 3 and DMX 4)
Symmetrix “VMAX” Series
The two Symmetrix ICDAs connected by SRDF may be different models. For more information
on compatibility between different levels of Enginuity, see SRDF Interfamily Connectivity Support
document available at the EMC website.
Metrocluster supports Synchronous and Asynchronous modes of replication on EMC Symmetrix
DMX, DMX-3, DMX-4 and VMAX series. However, EMC Enginuity Level 5671 or higher is
required for Asynchronous mode on EMC Symmetrix DMX series.
SRDF firmware must be configured, and hardware installed on both Symmetrix units.
Symmetrix microcode level. (see note below)
NOTE: For the supported Symmetrix microcode level, see Serviceguard Disaster Recovery
Products Compatibility and Feature Matrix (Metrocluster with EMC SRDF) available at http://
www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
For more information on supported microcode levels with SRDF and its features, see relevant
Solutions Enabler Support Matrix available at the EMC documentation Web site.
M by N requires microcode level 5x67 and greater.
The R1/R2 personality swap is enabled on Symmetrix “5” and later models (that is, not
supported on Symmetrix 4) with microcode level 5567.xx.xx or greater. Virtual Provisioning
requires microcode level 5773 or greater.
Binary file changes are needed on each Symmetrix that you want to perform the R1/R2 swap
on. Run the following command to verify the binary changes.
# symcfg list -v
NOTE:
After the binary file changes are complete, you must verify the value of Dynamic RDF
Configuration State parameter as "Enabled".
It is recommended that the microcode levels for all the Symmetrix systems be upgraded
to the latest GA release version.
