HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.19 Release Notes, July 2009
• A quorum server can now support up to 150 clusters comprising up to 300 nodes.
The previous limits were 50 clusters and 100 nodes. The new limits are supported
in Quorum Server versions A.02.00.04 and later.
• In addition to the new Serviceguard demons introduced in A.11.19 (see above),
new demons were introduced in a patch to A.11.18 (see Chapter 3 of Managing
Serviceguard for Linux for more information about Serviceguard demons):
— Lock LUN Daemon: cmdisklockd
If a lock LUN is being used, cmdisklockd runs on each node in the cluster
and is started by cmcld when the node joins the cluster.
— Network Manager Daemon: cmnetd
This daemon monitors the health of cluster networks, and handles the addition
and deletion of relocatable package IP addresses, for both IPv4 and IPv6
addresses.
— Utility Daemon: cmlockd
Runs on every node on which cmcld is running. It maintains the active and
pending cluster resource locks.
— Cluster SNMP Subagent (optionally running):cmsnmpd
• Hostnames for Serviceguard cluster nodes can be up to 39 characters (bytes) long.
(The former limit was 31 characters.)
• A new command, cmdisklock, can be used to repair or replace a lock LUN; see
“Replacing a Lock LUN” in Chapter 8 of Managing Serviceguard for Linux, and the
cmdisklock manpage, for more information.
• Serviceguard for Linux version A.11.18 introduced initial support for two
application interfaces based on the Service Availability Forum Specification (SAF,
saforum.org). These are for use only by ISVs (Independent Software Vendors)
with special support contracts.
Ask your HP Service Representative to contact the Serviceguard for Linux
development team for more information on these interfaces.
Support for DM-MPIO
Serviceguard for Linux supports DeviceMapper multipath (DM-MPIO) for application
LUNs. It also supports DM-MPIO for the lock LUN, as follows:
• On Red Hat 5.1 and later with HPDMtools 3.0 and later
• On SLES10 SP2 and later with HPDMtools 4.0 and later
You can use the DM-MPIO delivered with one of the above the distributions, instead
of HPDMtools, if that is supported by the storage array.
