HP Serviceguard for Linux Version A.11.18 Release Notes, 2nd Edition, March 2009
IMPORTANT: This represents a net addition to the time it takes for the cluster to
re-form. For example, if the cluster typically took 40 seconds to re-form before any VM
nodes were added, it will generally take about 80 seconds when one or more VM nodes
are members of the cluster, if all those nodes have the hpvminfo or vminfo software.
If any VM node without that software is a member of the cluster, it will take about 110
seconds. This is true whenever VM nodes are cluster members, whether or not the
re-formation is caused by the failure of a VM node.
For More Information
For more information about HP Integrity Virtual Machines, see HP Integrity Virtual
Machines Installation, Configuration, and Administration at http://docs.hp.com ->
HP Virtual Server Environment (VSE) -> HP Integrity Virtual
Machines. For instructions for installing hpvminfo and related HP software on an
HPVM guest, see Installing a Guest Depot in chapter 4 of that document.
For instructions for installing vminfo and related HP software on systems running
VMware ESX Server, and important configuration information, see Using Serviceguard
for Linux with VMware Virtual Machines at http://docs.hp.com -> High
Availability -> Serviceguard for Linux -> White Papers.
New Online Timing-Configuration Capabilities
You can now change the following cluster-configuration parameters while the cluster
is running:
• NETWORK_POLLING_INTERVAL
• HEARTBEAT_INTERVAL
• NODE_TIMEOUT
• AUTO_START_TIMEOUT
See “Reconfiguring a Cluster” in chapter 7 of Managing Serviceguard for Linux for more
information.
Alternate Quorum Server Subnet
Serviceguard 11.18, with the patches listed under “New Features for March 2008
Patches” (page 14), allows you to configure an alternate subnet for communication
between the cluster nodes and the Quorum Server. You can do this from the command
line or in Serviceguard Manager.
This capability requires Quorum Server Version A.03.00. For requirements and
instructions, see the section “Configuring Serviceguard to Use the Quorum Server” in
the HP Serviceguard Quorum Server Version A.03.00 Release Notes, which you can find at
http://docs.hp.com -> High Availability -> Quorum Server.
