1 Overview
This document provides information about HP Serviceguard A.11.20.20 for Linux.
2 Supported platforms and Linux distributions
Serviceguard A.11.20.20 is available on HP ProLiant Servers for the following Linux distributions:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 or Advanced Platform
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 or Advanced Platform
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
The HP Serviceguard Extended Distance Cluster (serviceguard-xdc) for Linux A.11.20 is available
on HP Proliant servers running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, and
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11.
NOTE:
• For more information about support of new updates or service packs, supported errata, see
the latest version of HP Serviceguard for Linux Certification Matrix available at http://

• If you have upgraded the kernel to a new errata, you must rebuild the deadman driver for the
cluster to work properly. For more information about how to rebuild the deadman driver, see

3 What is new in this release
This section describes the new and changed features for HP Serviceguard A.11.20.20 for Linux.
3.1 What is new in Serviceguard for Linux
• “Support for persistent reservation with Device Mapper multipath” (page 7)
• “Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Kernel-based Virtual Machine guests as cluster nodes”

• “Support for cluster verification” (page 7)
• “Support for iSCSI storage device” (page 7)
• “IP_MONITOR parameter disabled by default” (page 8)
• “Utilities to migrate legacy style toolkit packages to modular style packages” (page 8)
• Support for serviceguard-xdc on Virtual Machine environment and persistent reservation with
Multipath environment. This is supported only with VMware guests.
• Support for XFS file system on both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and later, and SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server 11
• Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 with ext4 file system
• Improved validation for volume group and file system in the modular package during online
package reconfiguration
