6 Compatibility and installation requirements
Read this entire document and any other Release Notes you may have before you begin an
installation.
NOTE: All nodes must be on the same distribution, including errata level and architecture version.
Using different distribution versions within the same cluster is supported only during rolling upgrade.
Servers using processors from Intel and AMD can be mixed in a cluster. For supported rolling
upgrade paths, see Rolling upgrade from A.11.19.X to A.11.20.20 (page 27). For information
about supported Serviceguard versions, Linux distributions, related software, and hardware, see
the documents listed under “Related information (page 30).
6.1 Installing HP Serviceguard for Linux
HP provides an automated installation script that takes you through the process of installing and
configuring Serviceguard for Linux, including Serviceguard Manager and ancillary software. For
information and installation instructions, see the latest version of HP Serviceguard for Linux
Deployment Guide, at http://www.hp.com/go/linux-serviceguard-docs.
The cmeasyinstall script automates the installation of Serviceguard and Serviceguard Manager
component rpms that are shipped by HP. This script must be run on each of the node participating
in the cluster. The script checks for the pre-requisite rpms that are required for Serviceguard and
Serviceguard Manager. If they are present, the component rpms are installed. For more information,
see the README_cmeasyinstall.txt that is bundled along with the cmeasyinstall script.
6.1.1 Serviceguard for Linux patches (updates)
Patches are available for Serviceguard on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6,
and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11. Table 1 provides details about the Serviceguard patches for
each platform. You can download the latest Serviceguard patches for Linux A.11.20 from HP
Support Centre at http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc.
