HP StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform 3.0.4 Release Notes (5697-0763, November 2010)
• The SNMP modify community trap name only changed value for trap generation, not the MIB
queries.
• DPM failure occurred when a virtual disk was deleted and smaller virtual disk was created with
same LUN.
• DPM failure occurred after a synchronous mirror virtual disk was deleted due to delayed synchron-
ous mirror cleanup.
• When the LUN from an HP XP array was added to the storage pool, another LUN appeared.
• VSS over VMware issues:
• Hardware provider supports HSV100 device types.
• Hardware provider ignores device type when importing a snapshot.
• ESX 3.5 and above now registers with the SVSP domain.
• Resolved issue where creation of a Vshadow snapshot failed on VMware Windows Virtual
Machine.
• Remote port down status was not announced if LUN discovery was still in progress.
• The fabric agent caused DPM failure when deleting a user-defined host with permissions to a
synchronous mirror.
• DPM failure occurred when creating synchronous mirrors exceeding 8 TB due to an out-of-memory
condition, and limited total capacity caused synchronous mirror failure. A 16 TB synchronous
mirror can be created with the total synchronous mirror capacity limited to 200 TB.
• VSM failure occurred that was related to email notifications immediately after being disconnected
from Fibre Channel.
• Negative capacity on thin provisioning license when license capacity exceeds 1 PB.
• There was synchronous mirror performance degradation during times of stressed I/O.
• Corrected host mode to support VMware with the ALUA A/A personality.
• DPM occasionally failed to boot with a "no bootable device" error.
• Both DPMs failed when the LUN ID was changed for an existing back-end LU.
• Loss of host access to all virtual disks occurred in a VDG due to VSS commitment.
• Fixed XFRLEN issue where 16–byte CDB was interpreted as a 10–byte CDB.
• Could not create setup virtual disks on Windows 2008 R2 VSM.
• Fixed incorrect 30 TB limit on amount of mappable space to 90 TB. Mapped table entries increased
from 30,000 to 90,000.
• Fixed issue where every path to the HP P2000 was active and primary.
• The DPM load config command preserves license keys, if keys are installed.
Prerequisites
A dual-fabric SAN as defined by the HP SAN Design Reference Guide (http://www.hp.com/go/
SANDesignGuide), with approved storage arrays using B- or C-series switches. See the HP Single
Point of Connectivity Knowledge (SPOCK) website at http://www.hp.com/storage/spock for supported
switch firmware. Site registration is required.
Installation instructions
For a new or upgrade installation of Virtualization Services Manager or Data Path Module software,
