• FCV mode CHPIDs cannot connect to a FICON CU or FICON director.
• FCP mode CHPIDs cannot connect to a FICON CU or FICON director. Use FCP mode to
connect to Fibre Channel directors and devices from an LPAR running zLinux. Arbitrated loop
topologies are not supported with FCP mode.
NOTE: FICON Express and FICON Express 2 cards are available only as a carry-over from an
existing processor during an upgrade to a z9 processor or a z10 processor.
