NOTE: The MDS 9134 switch has a fixed configuration and does not support additional switching
modules.
The MDS 9513 requires Fabric-2 or Fabric 3 Modules to support the 48-port 8 Gb/s Performance
Fibre Channel Switching Module and the 24-port 8 Gb/s Fibre Channel Switching Module. Fabric
modules are also known as crossbar modules.

Features of the C-series FICON directors are as follows:
Nonblocking architecture using VOQ
VSAN deployment over the physical infrastructure
VSANs are separate instances of all fabric services, including address space.
Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting (FC Ping, FC Traceroute, SPAN, RSPAN, and Call
Home)
Comprehensive security (SecureShell, SFTP, RADIUS, SNMPv3, and RBAC)
Comprehensive fabric management (CLI, SNMP, and Java-based GUI)
Traffic management (FCC and QoS)
High-availability, fault-tolerant software
Integrated multi-protocol capability (MDS 95nn and 92nn) for SAN extension (FCIP and iSCSI)
PortChannels, which is an ISL aggregation feature that allows you to create a logical ISL
between directors from as many as 16 physical ISLs, providing a load-balancing mechanism
across the physical ISLs
Traffic encryption—IPsec is supported over FCIP. You can encrypt FICON and Fibre Channel
traffic that is carried over FCIP. Encryption is also supported on individual ISLs on 8 Gb/s line
cards only. PortChannels are not supported.
