FICON supports a maximum of 250 director ports in a VSAN. If you configure multiple FICON VSANs in the same
director, you can have more than 250 ports. Each VSAN in the same director has a unique domain ID, switch ID, serial
number, and CUP instance (if enabled).

NX-OS level provided they are running the latest firmware version listed in Table 15 (page 49).
Switching module support
The Fibre Channel Switching Modules and Fibre Channel port descriptions that follow apply to
FICON and FCP. For example, the 16-port Fibre Channel Switching Module can support 16 FCP
ports, 16 FICON ports, or a mix of FCP and FICON ports. For information about Fibre Channel

• HP StoreFabric SN8500C 8-slot 16Gb FC Director can accommodate high port density (up
to 384 ports). Up to 256 ports can be configured per FICON VSAN. The base units include
an 8- slot modular chassis with two hot swappable redundant Supervisor–1 Modules, six hot
swappable redundant 3000W Power Supplies, and three hot swappable redundant Fabric
C-series FICON directors 49
