enabled, directors synchronize time with the primary FCS, which may or may not be the
principal director.
NOTE: If CUP is enabled and configured on the director and the mainframe, the mainframe
sets the clock in the director. All other clock update methods must be disabled. Mainframe
time runs at Greenwich Mean Time.
Interoperability with McDATA directors
NOTE: The information in this section is provided for reference only. Although HP allows McDATA
FICON connectivity to P9500 and XP disk arrays, HP does not sell or support McDATA FICON
products.
B-series FICON directors and switches (or the equivalent Brocade models) can coexist in the same
FICON fabric as the Mi10K and M6140 Directors and the M4700 Fabric Switch under the
following conditions:
• B-series directors must be set to Interop Mode 2.
NOTE: Interop Mode 2 is not supported for connection to McDATA directors with FOS 7.x
or later.
• McDATA directors must be set to McDATA Fabric Mode.
• ISLs between the DC SAN Backbone Director, 8/40 SAN Switch, and 8/80 SAN Switch (or
the equivalent Brocade models) and the Mi10K or M6140 Director to interconnect a mixed
fabric are supported.
• ISLs between the 400 MP Router (or the equivalent Brocade model) and the Mi10K or M6140
are supported to provide an FCIP ISL for McDATA FICON fabrics.
• ISLs between the 1606 (or the equivalent Brocade model) and the Mi10K or M6140 are
supported to provide an FCIP ISL for McDATA FICON fabrics with Fabric OS 6.3.0b or later.
Table 13 (page 44) lists the firmware and software requirements for a combined B-series and
McDATA FICON fabric.
