HP Mainframe Connectivity Design Guide

performance, even in congested environments. The QoS SID/DID prioritization and ingress
rate limiting features are the first components of this license option. For configuration restrictions,
see the HP StorageWorks Fabric OS 6.x Administrator Guide.
ICLs (DC SAN Backbone Directors and DC04 SAN Directors only)—Provides dedicated
high-bandwidth links between two DC SAN Director Switch chassis without using the front-end
8 Gb/s ports. Each DC SAN Director Switch must have an ICL license installed to enable the
ICL connections.
Top talkers (requires Advanced Performance Monitoring license)—Provides real-time information
about the top bandwidth-consuming flows passing through a specific point in the network.
Traffic isolation zones—Enables application segregation, guaranteeing separate paths through
the fabric. You can isolate traffic assigned to ISLs in the fabric.
FCIP Trunking—Enables multiple IP source and destination address pairs (defined as FCIP
circuits) via multiples of the 1-GbE or 10-GbE interfaces to provide a high-bandwidth FCIP
tunnel and failover resiliency. FCIP tunnels using 1-GbE ports can have up to four FCIP circuits
spread over four 1-GbE ports. FCIP tunnels using 10-GbE ports can have up to ten FCIP circuits
per 10-GbE port. Each FCIP circuit supports four QoS classes as a TCP connection (Class-F,
high, medium, and low priority).
NOTE: FCIP Trunking is supported on the 1606 Extension SAN Switch and the DC Dir Switch
MP Extension Blade only.
Adaptive Rate Limiting—Dynamically adjusts data transmission through the TCP connections
in a FCIP tunnel, based on preconfigured minimum and maximum data rates and feedback
from the quality of the TCP connections. This enables FCIP connections to use the maximum
bandwidth available while providing a minimum bandwidth guarantee.
NOTE: ARL is supported for FCIP tunnels configurations on the 1606 Extension SAN Switch
and DC Dir Switch MP Extension Blade only.
Fibre Channel routing and FCIP enhancements—Support for Masterless EX_Port Trunking and
QoS, enhanced compression, FCIP Trunking, and ARL features for the 1606 Extension SAN
Switch and DC Dir Switch MP Extension Blade.
NOTE: Masterless EX_Port Trunking is supported when using FCIP links in Fabric OS 6.3.0a
or later.
Advanced FICON Accelerator—Optional license available in FOS 6.4.0a or later. Supports
FICON tape, virtual tape, and IBM TotalStorage z/OS Global Mirror (also known as XRC).
Starting with FOS 7.0.0c, Teradata, printers, and the Prizm FICON to ESCON converter and
ESBT Bus/Tag Interface Module manufactured by Optica Technologies, Inc. are also supported.
It reduces application latency caused by long distance FCIP ISLs for the supported devices.
NOTE: The Advanced FICON Accelerator is supported on the 1606 Extension SAN Switch
and the DC Dir Switch MP Extension Blade only.
