Long-wave transceivers
The maximum supported distance for long-wave transceivers depends on the transceiver model.
Some long-wave transceivers transmit up to 100 km.
Table 82 (page 131) lists supported long-wave transceiver distances and maximum supported
distances under ideal operating conditions for FICON SAN extension.

McDATA M6140 and M6064 have a sustained data rate of 6.5 Gb/s using the 10 Gb/s port.

The 4 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s ports are not available on the HP StorageWorks 2/64 and 2/140 directors.

Wavelength division multiplexing
WDM devices extend the distance between two FICON directors. The devices are transparent to
the directors and do not count as an additional hop.
To accommodate WDM devices, you must have enough Fibre Channel BB_credits to maintain
line-speed performance. WDM supports Fibre Channel speeds of 10 Gb/s, 8 Gb/s, 4 Gb/s, 2
