Emulating IBM disk arrays and control units
XP storage systems in a mainframe environment are configured to emulate IBM disk arrays. All
disk volumes must emulate an IBM disk array and follow IBM standard formatting. The IBM file
structure standard for disk volumes is CKD or ECKD. This standard specifies the record format of
volumes, and ensures that each record consists of a count field and, optionally, a key field and
