4-16 Creating a Color Profile
The ink channel limits ensure that the printed image is not oversat-
urated, resulting in a loss of detail and smooth gradations. In
extreme cases, damage to the media or insufficient curing of UV
inks could occur.
Tip Printing at a resolution of 1200 dpi is essentially double
density printing, compared to 600 dpi. Ink limits for 1200
dpi should be approximately 60% of 600 dpi levels.
• Click the Print Ramps button to visually inspect the ink chan-
nel limits with no color correction. This prints patches in five per-
cent increments. from 0 to 100 percent. You should be able to
see a difference in density between every patch. If at some per-
centage you cannot detect a difference, the ink limit should be
lowered to that percentage for that color. Look for ink not cur-
ing, drying, bleeding, or a shift in hue. Adjust the ink channel
limits as necessary.
• Click the Apply button to save these ink limits.
16. In the Linearization Data Source section, specify the source of the
linearization data.
• Print and read new linearization charts
• Read from file
• Read old chart
The secondary calibration source is shown if you specified it earlier.
You cannot change the secondary source from this screen.
17. Click the Next ( ) button to continue.
This initiates the linearization you specified (print and read, read
from file, or read chart only). Click the Apply button to save the lin-
earization data.
