ColorSpan Legacy Print Server - Configuration Options Guide
4
○ Best Fit- scales the image to fit as much of the selected media size as possible, maintaining
the original aspect ratio. The image is automatically rotated if necessary for the best fit to the
media size.
○ Horizontal Fit- scales the image to fit the width of the selected media size, maintaining the
original aspect ratio. Any image area scaled beyond the vertical dimension of the media size is
clipped.
○ Vertical Fit- scales the image to fit the height of the selected media size, maintaining the
original aspect ratio. Any image area scaled beyond the horizontal dimension of the media size
is clipped.
○ Stretch Fit- scales the image to fit the entire area of the selected media size, disregarding the
original aspect ratio.
○ No Change- no scaling occurs; the image is printed at its original size and orientation. The
image may be clipped if the original size exceeds the selected media size.
○ Manual- when Manual is selected, EPS, TIFF, and JPEG files sent to the server through the
ColorSpan Legacy Downloader Utility will go into an Input Attention Queue, where they can be
scaled, rotated, and assigned a custom page size with the Manual EPS/TIFF tool.
Printing Options- The options here control the number of copies to be printed for each job, whether to
N-Up the job copies, and what size gutter to print between N-Upped copies. See the section on
“Document Details Options” for more information on copies and N-Up.
ColorMark CMS- the options here affect how color will be rendered by the ColorMark CMS color
management system. Options that are set here cannot be altered after the job has been processed.
Canonical- When enabled, canonical uses a default CMYK conversion to render all colors.
ColorMark CMS will not be used, but neither will the interlacing techniques that result in higher
apparent DPI. Canonical can be useful when printing line art or simple graphics, but is generally
insufficient for photographic images.
RGB- Affects print jobs created in the RGB color space.
○ - ColorMark RGB- Applies best color matching data to the entire image, particularly in blues
and reds. On some printers this is the only choice available.
○ Adobe RGB
○ Apple RGB
○ CIE RGB
○ Colormatch RGB
○ sRGB RGB
○ ColorMark RGB 2- Similar to ColorMark RGB but applies a slight rotation of all colors toward
magenta.
○ Compatible- Ensures that new jobs RIP’ed with current versions of ColorMark CMS will match
jobs RIP’ed previously with older versions. Not an option on newer printers.
CMYK- Affects print jobs created in CMYK color space.
○ Trumatch- provides accurate matching of TRUMATCH spot colors and true reproduction of full-
color images.
○ SWOP (Coated) Emulation- emulates the Standard for Web Offset Production color space
used for color offset printing onto coated paper stock.
○ SWOP (Coated) Emulation YA- “yellow adjusted,” provides visually warmer yellow tones,
compared to the “SWOP (Coated) Emulation” color space.
○ Eurostandard (Coated) Emulation- emulates the Eurostandard color space used for color offset
printing onto coated paper stock.
○ Eurostandard (Coated) Emulation YA- “yellow adjusted,”provides visually warmer yellow tones,
compared to the “Eurostandard (Coated) Emulation” color space.
