Legacy Print Server Configuration A Guide to Options 1
Document Scope HP’s Print Server Software that runs on ColorMark Legacy Pro and ColorMark Legacy RIP Station print servers has numerous options that can be configured for a variety of printing needs and results. These configurations are made primarily to the Input Ports, and to a lesser extent to the raster image processor (RIP) itself, to specific printers, and to individual jobs.
○ SmoothTone Full Page- ColorSpan’s Legacy SmoothTone error diffusion process will be applied to all job elements. This is the highest quality setting. Yields the best spot color matching. Optimal viewing distance is 10 to 15 feet (3 to 5 meters) for a “look and feel” approaching photorealism. Text, line art and EPS graphics take on a softer appearance than if printed using SmoothTone Images Only.
○ Best Fit- scales the image to fit as much of the selected media size as possible, maintaining the original aspect ratio. The image is automatically rotated if necessary for the best fit to the media size. ○ Horizontal Fit- scales the image to fit the width of the selected media size, maintaining the original aspect ratio. Any image area scaled beyond the vertical dimension of the media size is clipped.
RIP Configuration Options These options control aspects of the PostScript interpreter. Error Handler- when the interpreter encounters a PostScript error, it can handle the error in one of three ways: ○ Expert- the interpreter will produce a print job of the error handler output, routed to the same Output Queue as the original print job. The print job will show the Error, the Offending Command, and the contents of the interpreter stacks.
details, but cannot be altered if the job has already been processed by the RIP. If the job has not yet been processed (for example, while the job is in the Input Hold Queue or Input Attention Queue), those options can be changed as well. Copies- controls the number of copies of the document to be printed. Step-and-Repeat- DisplayMaker Legacy Series XII and the Legacy Fabrijet only.
