When you manipulate mainframe volumes, you can only select Cyl.
Volume number.No.
A combination of a logical disk controller (LDKC) number, a control unit (CU) number, and
a logical device (LDEV) number. Free indicates free space.
LDKC:CU:LDEV
If there are any free spaces displayed in the table, you can convert any one of them into a
custom-sized volume (CV) by right-clicking the free space and selecting Install CV to start the
Install CV operation. For the details on the Install CV operation, see “Creating VLL Volumes
(Install CV Function)” (page 63).
An LDEV number ending with # (for example, 00:00:01 #) indicates that the LDEV is an
external volume. For details regarding external volumes, see the HP XP24000/XP20000
External Storage Software User Guide.
An LDEV number ending with V (for example, 00:00:01 V) indicates that the LDEV is an
XP Snapshot virtual volume. For details regarding virtual volumes, see the HP
XP24000/XP20000 Snapshot User Guide.
An LDEV number ending with X (for example, 00:00:01 X) indicates that the LDEV is an
XP Thin Provisioning virtual volume. For details regarding virtual volumes, see the HP
XP24000/XP20000 Thin Provisioning Software User Guide.
The icons indicate the LDEV status:LDEV Status Icons
Normal LDEV.
LUSE volume.
LDEV reserved for HP XP Auto LUN Software. For more information about XP Auto
LUN, see the HP XP24000/XP20000 Auto LUN Software User Guide.
VLL Volume.
Free space.
LDEV secured by Volume Security.
Remote command device.
Emulation type.Emulation
Capacity of the volume displayed in the unit selected from the Capacity Unit list.Capacity
If MB or Cyl is selected as the capacity unit when creating a VLL volume, the resulting capacity
of the volume may be several hundred kilobytes larger than the specified capacity.
Number of LU paths. Blank indicates there are no LU paths.Path
The access attribute of the volume.Access Attribute
The status of the volume:Status
Normal: The volume is in a normal status.
Blocked: The volume is in a blocked status. Hosts cannot access the blocked volume.
Warning: The volume has a problem.
Format: The volume is being formatted.
Preparing Quick Format: The volume is being prepared for Quick Format.
Normal (Quick Format): Quick Format is being executed on the volume.
Correction Access: The access attribute of the volume is being changed.
Copying: Data in the volume is being copied.
Read Only: Hosts can only read the volume. Hosts cannot write any data to a volume
that is in Read Only status.
Shredding: The shredding operation is in progress.
Unknown: The system does not recognize the status of the volume.
