volumes in one storage system.
Create Pair Operation
To create an XP Business Copy pair, the P-VOL must be in SMPL status. You may set a reserve
attribute on the S-VOL before creating a pair. You can also create a pair with an unreserved SMPL
volume. For details about how to create XP Business Copy pairs, see (page 66) and (page 77).
You can specify up to three S-VOLs for one XP Business Copy P-VOL and create three pairs. In
addition, the XP Business Copy cascade function allows you to create a second layer of up to two
S-VOLs for each S-VOL in the first layer. Pairs created between the first and second layer are called
cascaded pairs. Figure 2 (page 10) illustrates cascaded XP Business Copy pairs.
