Figure 17 Shared Volume of XP Business Copy and XP Continuous Access Journal: S-VOL/P-VOL
In the configuration shown in Figure 17 (page 34), you cannot perform the XP Business Copy
and XP Continuous Access Journal copy operations at the same time. First you need to create
the XP Business Copy pair first, and then split the pair before creating the XP Continuous
Access Journal pair. You must suspend the XP Continuous Access Journal pair to resynchronize
the XP Business Copy pair. The XP Continuous Access Journal pair status cannot be changed
when the XP Business Copy pair is in the PSUS(SP) status.
If a volume is shared with an XP Business Copy pair and an XP Continuous Access Journal
pair, you can perform Quick Restore on the XP Business Copy pair when the XP Continuous
Access Journal pair is suspended. You cannot perform Quick Restore on the XP Business Copy
pair when the XP Continuous Access Journal pair is not suspended. Table 7 (page 34) describes
whether you can perform Quick Restore when a volume is shared with an XP Business Copy
pair and an XP Continuous Access Journal pair.

XP Continuous Access and XP Continuous Access Journal
Although XP Continuous Access and XP Continuous Access Journal can each share volumes with
XP Business Copy, they cannot share XP Business Copy volumes in some combinations.
Figure 18 (page 35) illustrates a volume that is functioning as both an XP Continuous Access Journal
S-VOL and an XP Continuous Access P-VOL.
A P-VOL of XP Continuous Access Journal means a primary data volume of XP Continuous Access
Journal. An S-VOL of XP Continuous Access Journal means a secondary data volume of XP
Continuous Access Journal.
