CFL Configuration File Loader.
CHA Channel adapter. A device that provides the interface between the array and the external host
system. Occasionally, this term is used synonymously with the term channel host interface processor
(CHIP).
CLPR Cache logical partition.
CM Cache memory.
CPAV HP XP for Compatible Parallel Access Volumes Software.
CSW Cache switch path.
CT consistency
CTG Consistency group.
CU Control unit.
CV Custom volume, customized volume (part of Virtual LVI/LUN).

DASD Direct-access storage device.
Data Ret Data Retention Utility.
DCR Dynamic Cache Residency (also called Cache Residency Manager).
DFW DASD fast write.
DKC Disk controller.
DKU Disk cabinet unit. The array cabinet that houses the physical disks.

EXTCG External consistency group.

FC Fibre Channel. A network technology primarily used for storage networks.
FCSP Fibre Channel security protocol.
FSW Fibre switch.

L1, L2 level 1, level 2
LBA Logical block address.
LCP Local control port.
LD, LDEV Logical device. An LDEV is created when a RAID group is carved into pieces according to the
selected host emulation mode (that is, OPEN-3, OPEN-8, OPEN-9). The number of resulting LDEVs
depends on the selected emulation mode. The term LDEV is also known as term volume.
LUN Logical unit number.
LUNM LUN Manager.
LUSE Logical Unit Size Expansion. The LUSE feature is available when the HP StorageWorks LUN
Manager product is installed, and allows a LUN, normally associated with only a single LDEV,
to be associated with 1 to 36 LDEVs. Essentially, LUSE makes it possible for applications to access
a single large pool of storage.
LVI Logical volume or image (for example, 3390-3R).
