HP StorageWorks XP24000 for FlashCopy Mirroring Software User's Guide (T5240-96001, June 2007)

Note:
By using the XTN TLST parameter of the FC ESTABL c om m and, you c an specify the
information on the source and target extents. When there are multiple extents, specify the
information on all the extents of the relevant datasets.
Version 2 allows you to use the X TN T LST pa rameter in the following ways:
You m ay specify multiple copy target datasets to be copied simulta neously from a single
copy source dataset.
You may specify the simultaneous execution of volume copying and dataset copying from a
single source volume.
You may specify multiple source datasets that are overlapping or are an inclusive part of
another
dataset. However, the number of extents that you may specify per dataset is limited
to
16.
You cannot specify multiple target datasets that are overlapping.
You may specify source and target datasets that differ in position.
You may specify the source and target datasets that are in the same volume, provided that
they do not overlap.
6. If the T-VOL is set to ofine in step 4, set this volume back to online. This step is not necessary if
the
ONLINTGT parameter of the FCESTABL comm and is set to YES.
Note:
The F CESTABL c om m and can o nly be executed once per Version 2 relationship. In other words,
you cannot execute this command repeatedly for the same Version 2 relationship.
Figure 41 on page 81 shows an example of how the FCESTABL command is used. In this example,
the
FCESTABL command species the following:
The data on the extent starting from CCHH ‘01000004’ and ending at CCHH ‘0357000A in the
source device numbered 4202 is to be copied to the extent starting from CCHH ‘13000001’ a nd
ending at CCHH ‘15570007’ in the target device numbere d 4203.
The data on the extent starting from CCHH ‘02AC0006’ and ending at CCHH ‘02FF000C’ in
thesourcedevicenumbered4202 istobecopiedtothe extent starting from CCHH 18A00000
and
ending at CCHH ‘18F30006’ in the target device numbered 4203 (the operation mode for
copying is set to NOCOPY mode).

Establishing Version 2 Relationships by Extents Using the DFSMSdss Command
The DFSMSdss command used to process the Version 2 d ataset copy operation is COPY DS. For
information about the available parameters for the DFSMSdss command, see Table 35 on page 77.
When the COPY DS command is issued, D FSMSdss checks whether the selected volumes meet the
requirements for use as Version 2 volumes, and automatically determines whether to process the
requested job via the host. DFSMSdss processes the COPY DS command in a few seconds and
establishes the Version 2 relationship simultaneously as it completes the processing. The completion of
this
process is not reported to the user.
Figure 4 2 on page 81 shows an example of the DFSMSdss command for processing the Version 2
dataset copy operation. In this example, the dataset on the volume numbered FCPY05 is c opied to a
volume numbered FCPY06.
