Note:
If the capacity of the copy source volume is larger than the c apacity of the copy target volume, and
if
REQUIRED is specied for the FASTREPLICATION parameter, the ADR920I message occurs and the
COPY c ommand will end abnormally. In that case, do one of the following:
Select the volume which has the same capacity as the copy source volume, and specify it as the
copy target volume.
Do not specify the FASTREPLICATION parameter.
Specify PREFERRED for the FASTREPLICATION parameter.
Specify NONE for the FASTREPLICATION parameter.
For detailed information about the ADR920I message, see the IBM document.
Establishing Version 2 Relationships by Extents Usin g FCESTABL
When you establish Version 2 relationships by extents with the FCESTABL command, the following
paramete
rs are available in addition to the parameters in Table 34 on page 76.
Table 36
P arameters for the FCESTABL Command (Version 2 / Dataset Copying)
Parameter
Value
Description
EXTENTS
Extents (copy
range)
Species th e extent (copy range) by setting the same starting and
ending addresses of the source and target with CCHH (cylinder and
head numbers). From the copy source, the specied data is copied
to the
same offset position on the copy target. Up to 32 extents
can be specied. When EXTENTS is not specied, the data on all
the tracks is copied.
XTNTLST
Extents (copy
range)
Species the extent (copy range) by setting the starting and ending
addre
sses of the source and the starting and ending addresses of
the ta
rget with CCHH (cylinder a nd head numbers). From the copy
source, the specied data is copied to a different offset position on
the copy target. Up to 3 2 extents can be specied. When XTNTLST
is
n
ot
specied, the data on all the tracks is copied.
Note
:
To execute the XTNTLST parameter, the size of the copy source extent and the copy target extent
must be the same.
When the F CESTABL com m and with the EXTENTS parameter specied is executed, only the data on the
cop
y
source extent(s) specied by the EXTENTS parameter is copied from the volume specied as the
source by SDEVN to the volume specied as the target by TDEVN. For example, when you copy only
dataset 2, the copy operation processes as shown in Figure 39 on page 80. When you do not specify
the
EXTENTS pa rameter, the entire source volume is copied to the target volume.
