HP StorageWorks XP24000 for FlashCopy Mirroring Software User's Guide (T5240-96001, June 2007)
Establishing Version 2 Relationships
You need to use the FCESTABL command of PPRC TSO or the DFSMSdss command to establish Version
2
relationship
s.
Note:
The timing to copy the d ata when the relationship is established is different between Version 2 and
IBM FlashCopy. IBM FlashCopy copies data when data in either the source or target volume is updated.
Establishing Version 2 Relationships by Volumes Using FCESTABL
The following table shows the parameters you can use with the FCESTABL command when you establish
Version 2 relationships by volumes.
Table34ParametersfortheFCESTABLCommand(Version2/VolumeCopying)
Parameter
Value
Description
SDEVN
Source device
number.
Specify the number (device address) of the S-VOL on which you want
to perform the FCESTABL command. (This parameter is essential.)
TDEVN
Target device
number.
Specify the number (device address) of th e T-VOL on which you want
to perform the FCESTABL command. (This parameter is essential.)
COPY
Default setting. All the data in the copy range of the volume specified
as the
source by SDEVN is background-copied to the volume specified
as the
target by TDEVN. The relationship ends automatically and all
the data is copied.
MODE
NOCOPY
Data is not copied in the background. The relationship does not
end
automatically, even when all the data is copied. To withdraw
the relationship, use the FCWITHDR command. If the following data
accesses occur, the
data that is subject to read/write processing is
copied from the source to the target before Version 2 read/write
processing starts:
•
When there is an access to write data on the copy source of the
specified area (within the extent)
•
When
there is an access to write data on the copy target of the
specified area (within the exten
t)
•
When there is an access to read data on th
ecopytargetofthe
specified area (within the extent).
ONLINTGT
YES
The path group is not checked. The relationship is established even
when the copy target is online.
NO
Default setting. The path group is checked. The relationship is not
established when the copy target is online.
To perform volume copying by using the FCESTABL command:
1. Set the T-VOL to offline, or set the ONLINTGT parameter of the FCESTABL command to YES
before proceeding to step 2.
2. Without specifying the EX TEN TS and XTNTLST parameters, execute the FCESTABL com m and.
3. Change the VOLSER of the T-VOL.
Note:
When the VTOC is copied, the VOLSER of the S-VOL and the T-VOL will be com e the same.
This step must be performed before
setting the volume specified as the T-VOL back to online.
4. If the T-VOL is set to offline in ste
p
1, set the T-VOL back to online.
This step is not necessary if the ONLIN TGT parameter of the FCESTABL com mand is set to YES.
Figure 34 on page 77 shows another example of how the FCESTABL command is used. In this example,
the FCESTABL command specifies that the data in the source device numb ered 4202 is to be copied to
thetargetdevicenumbered4203b
y
the COPY mode while 4203 is online.
