Usually, you need to specify a volume in Simplex status as a c opy source (S-VOL) or a copy target
(T-VOL). When you specify a ShadowImage for Mainframe S-VOL as a copy source, you can establish a
Version 2 relationship only if the ShadowImage for Mainframe pair is not in Resync-R status.
You can establish or release Version 2 relationships if you meet the requirements in
Copying by Volume on page 45 and Copying by Dataset on page 45. When there is a Version 2
relationship, you cannot perform backward resynchronization (that is, Reverse Resync or Q u ick Restore)
on the
ShadowImage for Mainframe p air.
Even if the ShadowImage for Mainframe S-VOL already has three T-VOLs, you can create up to 16 pairs
by specifying the volumes of Version 2 relationships as the copy source.
In the cases shown below, you cannot create ShadowImage for Mainframe pairs (see also
Figure 20 on page 50):
The case when the S-VOL of the Version 2 relationship and the T-VOL of the S hadowImage for
Mainframe pair are shared.
The case when the T-VOL of the Version 2 relationship and the T-VOL of the ShadowImage for
Mainframe pair are shared.
The case when the T-VOL of the Version 2 relationship and the S-VOL of the ShadowImage for
Mainframe pair are shared.
