Table 15 Parameters for t h e DFSMSdss C omm and (Version 1)
Parameter
Value
Description
COPYVOLID
N/A
The COPYVOLID o
ption is used to copy the volume serial
number (VOLSE
R).
If the
COPYVOL
ID option is specied, the volume serial
number is copi
ed to the
T-VOL, and the T-VOL becomes ofine
automaticall
y.
This COP YVOLI
D
option was necessary for SMS-managed
volumes unti
l
the DUMPCONDITIONING parameter
was added to D
FSMSdss with AP AR OW 456 74. If the
DUMPCONDIT
IONING
parameter is specied, there is no
need to
copy
the
volume serial number for SMS-managed
volumes.
DUMPCONDITIONING
N/A
DUMPCONDITIONING is used when you want to specify that
the
purpose of the copy operation is to create a backup copy
and
not for using the copied volume for application.
FCNOCOPY
N/A
This command sets the copy operation mode to NO COPY
mode. When this command is specied, the background
copying process is omitted from the copy operation.
FASTREP
LICATION
PREFERRED
The Versi
on 1 copy operation is executed as a priority. If
Version 1
cannot
be used, Concurrent Copy or the copy
operatio
n
via the host is executed.
When FAS
TREPLICATION is not specied, the copy operation
will be p
erformed in the s ame way as when PREFERRED is
specie
d.
REQUIRED
The copy operation must be executed by using Version 1. If
Version1cannot be used,anerror is reported.
NONE
The copy operation is not executed by using Version 1.
Note:
You c annot specify both the COPYVOLID option and the DUMPCONDITIONING parameter
at thesametime.
When the Version 1 copy is requested, DFSMSdss veries the condition and automatically selects the
Version 1 copy operation or the ordinary copy request via the host. When DFSMSdss selects the
Version 1 copy and star ts Version 1 operations, the COPY FULL command will be completed within a
few seconds, and the Version 1 relationship is established at once. Version 1 data is copied in the
background, and the completion of copy is not reported to the user.
Figure 9 on page 36 shows an example of the DFSMSdss COPY FULL commands.

Figure 9 Example of the C O PY FULL Co m m a n d (Version 1)
Version 1 can establish a relationship for one volume pair at a time. When you perform the copy
command (COPY FULL) on a volume pair in the F-Copy status that is in the process of the Version 1
copying operation, DFSMSdss identies the request as an ordinary copy request via the h ost and
performs the copy operations.
