HP StorageWorks XP24000 Continuous Access Software User and Reference Guide, v01 (T5278-96002, June 2007)

estimate whether or not the I/O lo ad is heavy from the rate of sidele cache (around 30%) or,
if you cannot see the sidele cacherate, from thefrequency of host I/O. The resynchronize
pair
operations should be performed under light I/O load conditions.
Error Level: If desired, you can change the error level of the pair(s). This o ption is available
only when the LU Resume Range option is selected. See Pair Options on page 110 for
further information on the error level option.
Note:
If an MCU or RCU is powered off and its backup batteries are fully discharged while Continuous
Access pairs a re suspended, the P-VOL/S-VOL differential data will not be retained. In this unlikely case,
the
MCU/RCU will ma rk all tracks for all split or suspended Continuous Access volumes as modied,
so that the MCU will perform the equivalent of an entire initial copy operation when the pairs are
resynchronized.
Note:
If youselectapair from thevolumelistand change thesettings, andifyou useadrop-downlistto
set blank to a parameter, the parameter takes the default value for ea ch pair. If yo u select the settings
from the preview list before applying the changed settings, and if you use a dro p-down list to set blank to
a
parameter in the Pairresync dialog box, the parameter value in the preview list will not be changed.
To resync one or more split or suspended Continuous Access pairs:
1. If any pair was suspended due to an error condition (use the Detailed Information dialog
box to view the suspend type), make sure that the error condition has been removed (see
General T roubleshooting on page 135 for troubleshooting information). The MCU will not
resync the pair(s) until the error condition has been removed.
2. Connect to the MCU of the pair(s) to be resynchronized, open the Continuous Access main
window, and click the Pair Operation tab.
3. In the tree, select a port, host group, desire d CU, or upper CU grouping. Use the Display
Filter as needed to display the desire d pairs (for example, select Async and PSUS status only)
(see Display Filter on page 103).
4. In the list, select the P-VOL(s) of the pair(s) to be resynchronized.
Select either Sync or Async pairs (not both) . Select either PSUS or PSUE pairs (not both) (or PDUB
pairs, see note below). To use the Group Resume Range option, select only one Continuous
Access A synchronous pair in the group.
Note:
You can use pairresync to change LUSE pairs from PDUB status to PAIR status.
5.
Right-click, and click Pairresync to open the Pairresync dialog box (see Figure 51 on page 118).
6. O n the Pairresync dialog box, select the desired pairresync options, and click Set to close the
Pairresync dialog box. The preview list displays the requested pairresync operation(s) .
Note:
To resync all split/suspended pairs in a consistency group, select the Group from Resume
Range option on the Pairresync dialog box.
7. Verify therequested operation(s) in thepreview list. Makesurethat the pairresyncoptions
for each pair are correct.
To change one or m ore operations, select the operation(s) from the preview list, right-click, and
click Modify. To remove one or more operations, select the operation(s) from the preview list,
right-click, and click Delete. To cancel all operations, select a ll the operations in the p review list,
right-click, and click the Delete command, or click the Cancel button.
8. To start the operation(s) , click the Apply button.
If one
or more o peration(s) did not start normally, the preview list displays only the operation(s)
that
did not star t normally. An error code is displayed on the Error Code column in the preview
list. To display an error message, select one LU, right-click, and click Error Detail. After you see
the error message, click the OK button to close the err or message.
9. On the Pair Operation window, verify that the pairresync operations are completed
successfully (PAIR status in the list) . To monitor the progress of the pairresync operation(s),
click File, and then click Refresh on the menu b ar of the Remote Web Console main window
to update the information in the list, or use the Detailed Information dialog box (see
Viewing Continuous Access Pair Status on page 1 12) to monitor the detailed status of each
pair.
Note:
If an error occurs, you can display the error message by right-clicking on the operation
and
clicking the Error D etail command.
