HP StorageWorks XP24000 Continuous Access Journal Software User and Reference Guide, v01 (T5278-96001, June 2007)

the pair status is split. If you enable d the secondary data volume write option when you split the pair, the
secondary storage system keeps track of the secondary data volume tracks which are updated while the
pair is split. When the pair is resumed (pairresync), the secondar y storage system sends the secondary
data volume track bitmap to the primary storage system, and the primary storage system merges the
primary data volume and secondar y data volume bitmaps to determine which tracks are out-of-sync.
A split (or suspended) Continuous Access Journal secondary data volume has an additional status
called
the consistency status. The consistency status is displayed only at the secondary storage system
and indicates the update sequence consistency of the secondar y data volume with respect to the other
secondary data volume in the same group. Table 6 on page 37 lists and describes the consistency
statuses for split or suspended Continuous Access Jou rnal secondary data volumes (the consistency status
is
displayed only at the secondary storage system) .

Description
PSUS, P-VOL by
Operator
Primary data
volume
The secondary data volume split t ype is PSUS-by MCU.
PSUS, S-VOL by
Operator
Primary data
volume, Secondary
data volume
The user split the pair from the primary storage system or
secondary storage system using the secondary data volume
option.
PSUS, by MCU
Secondary data
volume
The second
ary storage system received a request from the
primary st
orage system to split the pair. The primar y data
volume spl
it
type is PSUS-P-VOL by Operator or PSUS-S-VOL
by
Operat
or.
PSUS, by RCU
Primary data
volume, Secondary
data volume
The primary storage system detected an error condition a t the
secondary storage system which caused the primary storage
system to suspend the Continuous Access Journal data volume
pair. The secondary data volume suspend type is PSUE-S-VOL
Failure.
PSUS, Pairsplit-S
to
RCU
Primary data
volume
The primary storage system detected that the secondary data
volume status changed to SMPL because the user released the
pair (pairsplit-S) from the secondary storage system. The pair
cannot
be resumed because the secondary data volume does
not
have the PSUS/PSUE status.
PSUS, JNL Cache
Overow
Primary data
volume, Secondary
data volume
The da
ta volume pair was suspended because it was highly
likely that journal data would overow .
Note:
RAID Manager displays this split type as PFUS.
