PSUS
(pair suspended-
split)
(see
Table 5 on page 36
for split types)
This data volum
e
pair is not synchronized,
because the us
er has
split this pair (pairsplit-r)
or
because the
user has released this pair from
the
secondary
storage system (pairsplit-S).
For Continuo
us Access Journal pairs, the
primary stor
age system and secondary
storage system keep track of any journal
data that was discarded during the pairsplit-r
operation. While a pair is split, the primary
storage system and secondary storage system
keep track
of the
primary data volume and
secondar
y
data volume tracks which are
updated.
When you s
plit a pair from the primary
storage s
ystem, the primary storage system
changes the status of the primary data volume
and
secondary data volume to PSUS. When
you split a pair from the secondary storage
sy stem, the secondary storage system changes
the
sta
tus of the secondary data volume to
PSUS.
The primary storage system detects this
(if
the path status is normal) and changes the
primary data volume status to PSUS.
When you release a pair from the secondary
storage system, the secondary storage system
chan
ges the status of the secondary data
vol
umetoSMPL. Theprimary storage system
detects t his (if path status is normal) and
changes the primary data volume status to
PS
US. You must release the pair from the
pr
imar y storage system in order to change the
pr
imar y data volume status to SMPL.

PSUE
(pair suspended-
err or)
(see
Table 7 on page 38
for suspend types)
This data volume pair is not synchronized
because the primary storage system or
secondary storage system has suspended the
pair due
to an error condition. For Continuous
Access Journal pairs the primary storage
system and secondary storage system keep
track of any journal data that was discarded
during the suspension operation. The primary
storage system keeps track of the primary
data volume tracks which are updated while
the
pair is suspended.
For Continuous Access Journal pairs, if the
primary storage system detects a Continuous
Access Journal suspension condition (see
“Suspension Conditions” on page 38),
the
primary storage system changes the
secondary data volume status to PSUE.
For Continuous Access Journal pairs, if the
primary storage system detects a Continuous
Access Journal suspension condition (see
“Suspension Conditions” on page 38),
the
secondary storage system changes the
secondary data volume status to PSUE. The
primary storage system d etects this (if the path
status is normal) and changes the primary
data volume status to PSU S.
