HP StorageWorks XP24000 Continuous Access Journal Software User and Reference Guide, v01 (T5278-96001, June 2007)
To transfer your business tasks to the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site, follow the procedure
below. R A ID Manager is used in this procedure.
1. Use RA I D M anager to release the Continuous Access Journal pair.
2. Use R A I D Manager to execute the horctakeover com m a nd on the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
3. Use the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary volume to resume your bus iness tas ks.
4. Check the execution result of the horctakeover com m and, and then do either of the following:
a. If the primary/secondary relationship of the Continuous Access Synchronous pair is not
reversed (that is, the c opy direction is not reversed as illustrated in the upper-right of
Figure 7 0 on page 149) , use RAID Manager to create a Continuous Access Journal pair.
The primary data volume of the Continuous Access Journal pair must be the Continuous
Access Synchronous secondary volume. The secondary data volume of the Continuous
Access Journal pair must be the secondary data volume in the Continuous Access Journal
secondary site.
b. If the primary/seconda ry relationship of the Continuous Access Synchronous pair
is
reversed (that is, the copy d irection is reversed as illustrated in the lower-right of
Figure 70 on page 149), recreate the Continuous Access Journal pair that were released at
step 1 of this procedure. When you finish recreating the Continuous Access Journal pair,
the
system configuration changes from 3DC multi-target con fi guration to 3 DC cascading
configuration, and the former Continuous Access Synchronous seconda ry volume changes
to the primary volume.
Notes:
• If you followed step a above, remove failures in
the
primary site and other lo cations, change the system to a 3DC multi-target co nfiguration (see
“Changing to a 3DC Multi-target Configuration af ter Recovering from Primary Site Failures” on page 63),
and then follow the instructions in Transferring Business Tasks from the Continuous Access
Secondary Site to the Primary Site (in a 3DC Multi-target Configuration) on page 65 in order
to transfer the business tasks back to the primary site.
• If you followed step b above, remove failures in the primary site and other locations, and then
follow the instructions in Transferring Business Tasks from a Continuous Access Secondar y
Site to the Primary Site (in a 3DC Cascading Configuration) on page 64 in order to transfer
business tasks back to the primary site.
