Releasing a Pair of Data Volumes (Pairsplit-S)
To release one or more pair(s), follow the procedure b elow. Not only the p rimary storage system
administrator but also the seco n dary storage system administrator can perform this op eration.
1. Ensure that the Remote Web Console main window is in M o dify mode.

Pair Operation window is displayed (see “Pair Operation Window” on page 80).
3. In the tree, select a port (
)or a host group( ).
4. In the list,
select and right-click the pair that you want to release.
5. From the pop-up menu, select Pairsplit-S.
The Pairsplit-S window appears (Figure 6 7 on page 138).
6. In the Pairsplit-S window, select the d esired options for the pair(s).
7. Select Set
to close the Pairsplit-S window.
8. See the Preview list in the Pair O peration window to check the settings that you have made.
• To mod ify a setting, select and right-click the setting and then select Modify.
•To cancel a
setting, select and right-click the setting and then select Cancel.
9. Select Apply to release p air(s).
Note
: If an error occurs, the right-most column of the Preview list displays the error code. To
vie w detailed information about the error, right-click the error code and then select Error Detail.
An error message appears a nd gives you detailed information about the error.
10. In thelistofthe Pair Operations window, verify that the p air has been released successfully.
If the
pa
ir has
been released, the status of the pair is SMPL.
To monitor the progress of releasing pair(s), click File, Refresh on the menu bar of the Remote
Web Console main window to update the information in the list, or use the Detailed Information
window (see “Displaying Detailed Information about a Pa ir of Data Volumes”onpage131)
to monitor the detailed status of each pair.
Note:
T
o
restore a pair which was released from the secondary storage system, first release the pair from
the
primary storage system, and then restore the p a ir using the appropriate initial copy option.
Note:
If a pair deletion is performed, it is possible that the deletion takes effect on the secondar y data
volume later than it takes effect on the primary data volume. Therefore, an err or may occur if you
refer
ence the
status of a pair or manipulate a pair imm ed iately af ter the pair is deleted by RAID Manager.
If
suc

an error oc curs, check the status of the secondary data volume and then retry referencing the
pair status or manipulating the pair.
