• On-site backup copies of Continuous Access P-VOLs and S-VOLs
• Remote backup of Business Copy P-VOLs
Figure 12 Shared Volumes of Business Copy and Continuous Access: P-VOL/P-VOL
and P-VOL/S-VOL
The configuration shown in Figure 13 on page 33 is an example of a volume functioning as both a
Business Copy S-VOL and a Continuous Access P-VOL. This configuration allows you to use Continuous
Access to provide asynchronous remote copy.
Note:
This configuration does not allow Business Copy and Continuous Access to copy at the same time.
Create the Business Copy pair first, and then split the pair before creating the Continuous Access pair.
You must suspend the Continuous Access pair to resynchronize the Business Copy pair. The Continuous
Access pair status cannot be changed when the Business Copy pair is in the PSUS(SP) status.
Figure 13 Shared Volume of Business Copy and Continuous Access: S-VOL/P-VOL
Usually, Continuous Access and Continuous Access Journal can share the volumes with Business Copy.
However, in some cases, you cannot create Business Copy pairs using the volume shared with Continuous
Access and Continuous Access Journal. Figure 18 on page 37 and Figure 19 on page 37 show that you
cannot create Business Copy pairs using the volume shared with Continuous Access and Continuous
Access Journal.
