The configuration shown in Figure 11 on page 32 is an example of a volume that is functioning as both
a Continuous Access S-VOL and a Business Copy P-VOL. This configuration allows you to use Business
Copy to provide remote copies of Continuous Access S-VOLs.

Caution:
When you use a Business Copy P-VOL as a Continuous Access S-VOL as shown in
Figure 11 on page 32, the write operation to the Continuous Access P-VOL may takes extra time due to
the time necessary for the copying process of the Business Copy pair.
In addition, note that in the case of Continuous Access Asynchronous, the Continuous Access pair may be
suspended by failure because of the shortage of the capacity of its side fi le.
Caution
: When you share a Business Copy P-VOL with a Continuous Access S-VOL as shown in
Figure 11 on page32, QuickRestore or ReverseCopycan not beexecuted. Thecommandwillbe
rejected if executed.
The configuration shown in Figure 12 on page 33 is an example of a volume that is functioning as both a
Continuous Access P-VOL and a Business Copy P-VOL, while the S-VOL of the same Continuous Access
pair is also functioning as the P-VOL of another Business Copy pair. This configuration allows:
