HP StorageWorks XP Snapshot Software user guide: HP XP12000, HP XP10000, HP 200 Storage Virtualization System (T1713-96026, March 2009)
Replacing the microprogram offline
Replacing the microprogram is usually performed online, but in some cases, such as when the shared
memory configuration must be changed, replacing the microprogram is performed offline. If you
replace the microprogram offline, pool information or XP Snapshot pair information in shared memory
is lost. Therefore, you must create pools and pairs again after replacing the microprogram.
Combining XP Snapshot with other software products
You can create XP Snapshot pairs by sharing volumes with other products, such as XP Business Copy
or Continuous Access XP. In addition, you can create XP Snapshot pairs using volumes to which LUN
Security XP Extension or XP RAID Manager have assigned attributes. Table 9 on page 34 shows
whether or not XP Snapshot pairs can share volumes with other software products.

A XP Business Copy and XP Snapshot pair cannot have the same mirror unit (MU) number. For example, if the XP Business
Copy pair’s MU number is 0, you cannot create a XP Snapshot pair whose MU number is 0 and whose P-VOL is also used as
a XP Business Copy P-VOL. Also, if the XP Snapshot pair’s MU number is 1, you cannot create a XP Business Copy pair whose
MU number is 1 and whose P-VOL is also used as a XP Snapshot P-VOL.
