HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console User Guide: HP XP12000 Disk Array, HP XP10000 Disk Array, HP 200 Storage Virtualization System (T1714-96031, June 2010)
• Java applet program. The XP Remote Web Console is provided as a Java applet program. When
an XP Remote Web Console user accesses and logs on to the desired SVP, the Java applet is
downloaded from the SVP (web server) to the XP Remote Web Console client. The Java applet
program runs in a web browser on the XP Remote Web Console client.
• RMI (remote method invocation). RMI is a remote procedure call that allows Java objects stored
in the network to be run remotely. In the XP Remote Web Console network environment, the XP
Remote Web Console downloads Java objects from the SVP.
• CU (control unit). The arrays support a maximum of 255 logical CU images for mainframe systems
and 64 logical CU images for open systems. These images are numbered sequentially from 0-FE.
Each CU image controls up to 256 LDEVs. LDEVs within the arrays are accessed by a combination
of CU image number and device number (00-FF). Table 1 shows an example of the device numbers
for each CU image.

• CU group. For mainframe system volumes, the arrays support a maximum of 65,280 LDEVs, and
each CU controls up to 256 LDEVs. The CUs are controlled as a group of 64. This group is called
a CU group. Up to 16,384 LDEVs belong to each CU group. CU groups are numbered from 0
to 3. Table 2 lists the CU groups, terms displayed for the CU groups on the XP Remote Web
Console main panel, and the CU numbers and LDEV numbers for each CU group.
