1 Overview of XP Remote Web Console Operations 1-1 XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array Web Server and Web Client The XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array XP Remote Web Console consists of a group of Java™ applet programs that enable the user to manage the XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array subsystem. The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet programs run on a web browser to provide a user-friendly interface for the XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array web client functions.
The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program displays the configuration information for the attached XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array subsystems and enables you to perform the following types of operations: • Enabling and disabling options (see section 2-7) • Viewing the basic information, equipment and status information of the subsystem (see section 3-1-4 • Launching the desired option (see section 3-1-5 • Editing the user account list (storage administrator with superuser authority and storage partiti
1-3 User Access Control The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program provides five basic levels of user access: Default Storage Administrator. The default storage administrator has both storage administrator and superuser authority. The default storage administrator cannot be deleted, but the password can be changed. • Storage Administrator with superuser authority.
1-4 Important Terms and Concepts The XP Remote Web Console user should be familiar with the following terms and concepts: • Disk controller frame. The XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array subsystem has one disk controller frame that controls all data access and storage operations. The XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array provides up to 64 logical control unit (CU) images and supports 3990-6, 3990-6E, and 2105-F20 controller emulation types. Note: The 3990-3 and 2105-E20 controller emulation types are not supported.

2 Installation Requirements and Procedures 2-1 System Requirements The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program is downloaded from the SVP to the XP Remote Web Console client. The applet runs on the web browser of the XP Remote Web Console and communicates with the attached XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array subsystems via the TCP/IP network.
Note 1: If the RAM on the XP Remote Web Console client is 256 MB or less, the maximum number of concurrent users for XP Remote Web Console and Export Tool is one. If multiple instances of Remote Web Console or Export Tool are to be started on the XP Remote Web Console client, more than 512 MB of memory is recommended for the XP Remote Web Console client. Note 2: If JRE™ is not already installed on the XP Remote Web Console client, it will be downloaded when you log on to the server.
• For Windows® systems, if JRE™ is installed successfully, the Java™ plug-in is in the Control Panel. Please confirm that you can activate the JRE™ by the plug-in icon. • For UNIX® systems, please confirm that you can open the ControlPane.html file in the directory where the Java Runtime Environment™ is installed.
2-2-3 Configuring the Java™ Plug-In Because XP Remote Web Console deals with a large amount of data, you need to increase the memory size for the Java™ Plug-in execution. To increase the memory size for the Java™ Plug-in execution: 1. Open the Java™ Plug-in Control panel (see Figure 2-3). The Basic tab is the default view. • For Windows®: In the Control Panel, click Java Plug-in to open the Java™ Plug-in Control Panel. • For UNIX®: Do one of the following: Execute the ControlPanel file.

2-3 Using the XP Remote Web Console 2-3-1 XP Remote Web Console Conventions • If you specify different settings for the values on most of the XP Remote Web Console panes, the text color of the values changes to blue or the icon changes; however, the new settings will not take effect until you click Apply. Table 2.3 describes the text colors and font types displayed on the XP Remote Web Console panes.
Table 2-3 Text Color and Font Type Displayed on Panes Color and Font Type Description Blue bold italic Indicates that you have changed settings on the pane, but the changes are not yet implemented. To implement the changes, click Apply.
2-3-3 Conventions for Using the XP Remote Web Console on UNIX® Workstations When you use the XP Remote Web Console on UNIX® workstations, the following additional parameters apply: • • XP Remote Web Console panes: • You cannot change the window size. • The styles and colors of some panes are displayed differently than the panes displayed on Windows® systems. Mozilla browser: • If a java_vm process or a Mozilla browser process becomes hung up, XP Remote Web Console performance becomes abnormal.
2-3-4 Notes on Using the XP Remote Web Console on Windows Server® 2003 Computers If you are using a Windows Server® 2003 computer, the following operations will be necessary. • When using XP Remote Web Console for the first time, perform the following procedure in Internet Explorer: 1. In Internet Explorer®, click Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box appears (see Figure 27). 2. Click Advanced. 3. Clear the Do not save encrypted pages to disk check box. 4.
2-4 Starting Up and Logging on to the XP Remote Web Console™ Because the initial user ID has default administrator-level access, one of the first tasks for the XP Remote Web Console administrator should be to change the password. If you are logging on to XP Remote Web Console for the first time, use the initial user ID (administrator) and password (administrator) to log on as an administrator, and then change the password. See section 3-3-5 for more information on changing passwords.
2-4-1 Restriction on Accessing Local Client Files Java™ applets have a security feature that prohibits a user from accessing local client files for operations within the Java™ applet sandbox. However, this security restriction can be lifted to provide access to local files from XP Remote Web Console because the XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet has an electronic signature. Figure 2-8 illustrates Java™ applet security.
2-4-2 Logging on to a Subsystem: If you are using a Windows Server® 2003 computer, the Enhanced Security Configuration Warning message may display (see Figure 2-10). If this message appears, click In the future, do not show this message, and then click OK. 1. Open a web browser and enter http:// to open XP Remote Web Console. 2. is the public IP address of the SVP on the array you want to manage. 3.

5 Configuration File Loader 5-1 Overview of Configuration File Loader Configuration File Loader is used to make large-scale or “batch” changes to the LUN Manager configuration of the XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array subsystem, using either a text editor or spreadsheet software to edit configuration definition files (spreadsheet files) and apply the changes. You can apply the same configuration definition file to different subsystems, and you can define the configuration when you are offline.
5-2 General Spreadsheet Conventions 5-2-1 Spreadsheet File Requirements You will need to write the spreadsheet according to specific rules and in a specific format. Figure 5-2 shows a sample spreadsheet. Figure 5-2 Sample Spreadsheet All of the formatting requirements in Table 5.1 must be satisfied. Table 5-1 Spreadsheet File Formatting Requirements Item Requirements File type Text file File name Extension must be “.spd”. Maximum number of letters for the file name is 32 including the extension.
5-2-2 Spreadsheet Components The spreadsheet consists of the following components: • Spreadsheet Declaration (see section 5-2-1 ) • Function tags (see section 5-2-2-2 ) • Configuration definition(s) (see section 5-2-2-3 ) • Comments (see section 5-2-2-4 ) 5-2-2-1 Spreadsheet Declaration The spreadsheet declaration is required, and is written at the beginning of the spreadsheet. Certain parts of the declaration will have already been written in the exported current spreadsheet.
5-2-2-2 Function Tags Before you write the settings, you need to state the function of the parameter. This is called a function tag, and is formatted as a string that is in brackets ([ ]). The type and order of the function tag are determined by the product. Function tags have the following characteristics: • At least one function tag is required in a spreadsheet. • The function tag must be written at the very beginning of the row.
5-2-2-3 Configuration Definitions There are three types of configuration definitions: • Adding new settings. You can add new settings if the current settings area of the spreadsheet is blank (see Figure 5-4). • Deleting current settings. You can delete existing current settings by making the new settings area blank. • Changing current settings. You can change existing current settings by writing a different setting in the new settings area.
Figure 5-4 shows sample configuration definition settings. Function Tag [Port] 1A ・・・ Off EF Configuration Definition (Settings) ・・・ ・・・ 1A On EF ・・・ ・・・ ・・・ ・・・ ・・・ Current Settings Area New Settings Area 4 Blank Columns (from 7th to 10th column) Figure 5-4 Sample Configuration Definitions 5-2-2-4 Comments You can also type comment rows in the spreadsheet by beginning a row with the # character. The comment row can consists of any characters in any language.
5-3 LUN Manager Spreadsheet Settings The following LUN Manager functions can be defined by using Configuration File Loader: • Channel Adapter (CHA) settings allow you to change the PCB mode. See section 5-3-2 . • Port Settings allow you to change the settings for arbitrated loop-physical address (AL-PA), data transfer speed (host speed), and topology. You can also change the Secure Manager XP setting. See section 5-3-3 . • Host Group Settings allow you to create, delete, or change the host group.
5-3-2 Setting the CHA Mode The [CHA] tag allows you to set the channel adapter mode. The [CHA] tag is available only for changing settings. You cannot add or delete the settings with the [CHA] tag definitions. Mainframe settings are not written on the exported spreadsheet. You cannot change the NAS settings using the spreadsheet. However, the current NAS settings are commented on the exported spreadsheet (the rows start with “#$”). Do not change the NAS comment rows.
5-3-3 Port Settings The [Port] tag allows you to set the port information and the change the security switch (Secure Manager XP) to ON or OFF. You can change the [Port] tag definitions, but may not add or delete them. You cannot change the NAS settings using the spreadsheet. However, the current NAS settings are commented on the exported spreadsheet (the rows start with “#$”). Do not change the NAS comment rows. Table 5-5 lists the items and values available for the [Port] tag.
5-3-4 Setting the Host Group The [HostGroup] tag allows you to add, delete, or change the host group information. The following parameters apply: • You can delete the settings for host group 0 (zero), but the host group itself cannot be deleted. If you delete all the settings for host group 0, the settings revert to the default settings. • When you delete a host group, the WWN and path definition of that host group are automatically deleted.
Figure 5-5 illustrates the host mode option, which consists of 32 flags, from 0 to 31. The binary bit flags (option flags) are given to each ID (starting with 0), and every 4 binary bit flags are set as a group to be converted to the hexadecimal number that finally represents the host mode option. Figure 5-6 show a sample host mode option, where the host mode option becomes “1AB30005”. For the binary to the hexadecimal conversion, see Table 5-7. The host mode option should be written in one to eight digits.
5-3-5 Setting the WWN Information The [WWN] tag allows you to add, delete, or change the WWN information. Table 5-8 lists the items and values available for the [WWN] tag.
5-3-6 Setting the LU Path The [LUN] tag allows you to set the LU path definition and add, delete, or change LU paths. You cannot change the NAS settings using the spreadsheet. However, the current NAS settings are commented on the exported spreadsheet (the rows start with “#$”). Do not change the NAS comment rows. Table 5-9 lists the items and values available for the [LUN] tag.
5-3-7 Configuring the Command Devices The [LDEV] tag allows you to change the command device settings. You cannot add or delete command device settings with the [LDEV] tag definitions. When the command device (Cmd .Dev) is OFF, and the command device security (Cmd. Sec) is ON, an error occurs. You can set the command device OFF, regardless of the existence of the LU path. Table 5-10 lists the values available for the [LDEV] tag.
5-4 Configuration File Loader Operations 5-4-1 Configuration File Loader Pane The Configuration File Loader pane (Figure 5-7) opens when you start Configuration File Loader. From this pane, you can export a spreadsheet file with the current configuration information, and import a file with the new configuration. You can also see the status and the error information of the imported file before you apply the changes.
• The Export button allows you to export the current spreadsheet file. For instructions on exporting the spreadsheet file, see section 5-4-2-1 If you use the Mozilla™ web browser, the Download Manager pane may display when you click Export. If this occurs, close the Download Manager pane and continue the operation. • The Error Information list is displayed when the imported spreadsheet has errors. Use the Select Tag dropdown list to display the error information on a specific function.
