1 Overview of XP Remote Web Console Operations 1-1 XP1024/XP128 Disk Array Web Server and Web Client The XP1024/XP128 Disk Array XP Remote Web Console consists of a group of Java™ applet programs that enable the user to manage the XP1024/XP128 Disk Array subsystem. The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet programs run on a web browser to provide a user-friendly interface for the XP1024/XP128 Disk Array web client functions.
The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program displays the configuration information for the attached XP1024/XP128 Disk Array subsystems and enables you to perform the following types of operations: • Enabling and disabling options (see section 2-7) • Viewing the detailed information of the subsystem (see section 3-1-2) • Launching the desired option (see section 3-1-3) • Downloading the audit log files and viewing XP Remote Web Console log information (administrator only; see section 3-2) • Editi
1-3 User Access Control The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program provides three basic levels of user access: • Administrator access • Restricted (write) access • Ordinary user (view) access Administrators have write access to all XP Remote Web Console functions.
1-4 Important Terms and Concepts The XP Remote Web Console user should be familiar with the following terms and concepts: • Disk controller frame. The XP1024/XP128 Disk Array subsystem has one disk controller frame that controls all data access and storage operations. The XP1024/XP128 Disk Array provides up to 64 logical control unit (CU) images and supports 3990-6, 3990-6E, and 2105-F20 controller emulation types. Note: The 3990-3 and 2105-E20 controller emulation types are not supported.
2 Installation Requirements and Procedures 2-1 System Requirements The XP Remote Web Console Java™ applet program is downloaded from the SVP to the XP Remote Web Console client. The applet runs on the web browser of the XP Remote Web Console and communicates with the attached XP1024/XP128 Disk Array subsystems via the TCP/IP network.
Note 1: If the RAM on the XP Remote Web Console client is 128 MB or less, the maximum number of concurrent users for XP Remote Web Console is one. If multiple instances of XP Remote Web Console are to be started on the XP Remote Web Console client, more than 256 MB of memory is recommended for the XP Remote Web Console client. Note 2: If JRE™ is not already installed on the XP Remote Web Console client, it will be downloaded when you log on to the server.
2-2 Setting up the XP Remote Web Console 2-2-1 Configuring Your Web Browser Your HP account support representative will install the SVP software and LAN cabling. Be sure to document the serial numbers and IP addresses or host names of each XP1024/XP128 Disk Array subsystem; these numbers are required for XP Remote Web Console operations. NOTE: It is important to verify that you have a unique IP address or host name for each SVP to avoid any conflicts.
• When an internal process is being executed on the SVP (for example, a configuration change, option check, or an operational information acquisition), XP Remote Web Console processing might be temporarily delayed. • If you reset the time of the clock on the XP Remote Web Console, clear the existing temporary Internet files of your web browser before logging on to the XP Remote Web Console.
• In general, you can select an object in a pane by left-clicking the mouse. Certain commands can be displayed by right-clicking an object. In some cases you can use the right mouse button to drag and drop an item. This is noted in the instructions for each operation. You can sort objects listed in a table by selecting the header of a column you want to sort. • You cannot use the mouse wheel feature.
export LANG C Shell: setenv LANG C • After installing the JRE™ file on UNIX® workstations, enter the following commands using the shell: • B Shell: PATH=$PATH:[JRE installation directory path]/jre/bin export PATH • C Shell: setenv PATH ${PATH}:[JRE installation directory path]/jre/bin • Volume Migration and Performance Control XP panes: • You cannot drag and drop objects on the Volume Migration and Performance Control XP panes. You must use the buttons instead.
• When you use XP Remote Web Console on Solaris™ workstations: You cannot drag and drop objects on the LUN Manager pane. See section 5-3-2. • Port Settings allow you to change the settings for arbitrated loop-physical address (AL-PA), data transfer speed (host speed), and topology. You can also change the Secure Manager XP setting. See section 5-3-3. • Host Group Settings allow you to create, delete, or change the host group.
5-3-2 Setting the CHA Mode The [CHA] tag allows you to set the channel adapter mode. The [CHA] tag is available only for changing settings. You cannot add or delete the settings with the [CHA] tag definitions. Mainframe settings are not written on the downloaded spreadsheet. Table 5-4 lists the available configuration definitions for the [CHA] tag.
5-3-3 Port Settings The [Port] tag allows you to set the port information and the change the security switch (Secure Manager XP) to ON or OFF. You can change the [Port] tag definitions, but may not add or delete them. You cannot change the NAS settings using the spreadsheet. However, the current NAS settings are commented on the exported spreadsheet (the rows start with “#$”). Table 5-5 lists the items and values available for the [Port] tag.
5-3-4 Setting the Host Group The [HostGroup] tag allows you to add, delete, or change the host group information. The following parameters apply: • You can delete the settings for host group 0 (zero), but the host group itself cannot be deleted. If you delete all the settings for host group 0, the settings revert to the default settings. • When you delete a host group, the WWN and path definition of that host group are automatically deleted.
5-3-6 Setting the LU Path The [LUN] tag allows you to set the LU path definition and add, delete, or change LU paths. Table 5-9 lists the items and values available for the [LUN] tag.
