• You cannot combine external LUs that have different Cache Mode settings to form a LUSE
volume.
• XP Cache LUN
• You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for XP Cache
LUN operations.
• You cannot specify XP Cache LUN's bind mode for an external LU that has Cache Mode set to
Disable.
• If you use the mapped external LU for an XP Cache LUN operation and set the bind mode, the
XP Cache LUN operation requires a cache that is twice the size of the user data.
• XP Auto LUN Base Monitor
XP Auto LUN Base Monitor can be used to display the monitoring information for the external LUs.
You need to set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external volume for the
XP Auto LUN Software operation.

• XP Continuous Access (Synchronous and Asynchronous)
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for XP Continuous
Access operations. For an XP Continuous Access configuration example, see Using external LUs
for Continuous Access XP operations.
• Hitachi TrueCopy for z/OS
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for Hitachi True-
Copy for z/OS operations.
When the write operation is executed to the XP Continuous Access M-VOL to which the external
volume is assigned, the cache mode is always enabled regardless of the enabled or disabled
setting. For further information on the cache mode, see External LU attributes set by mapping.
• XP Continuous Access Journal
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for XP Continuous
Access Journal operations. For an XP Continuous Access Journal configuration example, see Using

• Hitachi Universal Replicator for z/OS
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for Hitachi Uni-
versal Replicator for z/OS operation.
• XP Business Copy
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for XP Business
Copy operations. For an XP Business Copy configuration example, see Using external LUs for

• Hitachi ShadowImage for z/OS
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for Hitachi
ShadowImage for z/OS operations.
• XP Snapshot
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for XP Snapshot

• Hitachi Parallel Access Volumes (HPAV)
You must set the IO Suppression mode to Disable to use the mapped external LU for Hitachi Parallel
