Troubleshooting Snapshot XP
Table 14 shows problems that are likely to occur when using Snapshot XP. The table describes the causes
of the problems and what you should do to solve the problems.

Problem Cause and solution
Cannot install Snapshot XP. Causes:
• Shared memory for the V-VOL management area is not installed.
• Shared memory is not set for the V-VOL management area.
• Shared memory for the differential tables is not installed.
Solutions:
• Contact your HP Account Support Representative and check if the
shared memory for the V-VOL management area and the differential
tables is installed.
• Contact your HP Account Support Representative and check if the
shared memory for the V-VOL management area is set correctly.
Pool information is not displayed. Causes:
• Pool is blocked.
Solutions:
• Implement the measures shown in ”Recovering blocked pools” on
page 57.
A pool is blocked. Causes:
• Pool-VOLs are blocked.
Solutions:
• Implement the measures shown in ”Recovering blocked pools” on
page 57.
Pool usage rate exceeds the threshold. Causes:
• Too much snapshot data is stored in the pool.
• Pool capacity is too small.
• Pool threshold is too small.
Solutions:
• Delete snapshot data that is less important or delete old snapshot
data to decrease the pool usage rate. See ”Restoring Snapshot XP
pairs” on page 47.
• Add some pool volumes to increase the pool capacity. See
”Creating new pools” on page 36.
• Set the pool threshold to a lager value. See ”Changing pool
information” on page 38.
NOTE: You need unused volumes to add pool volumes. If there are no
unused volumes, create new volumes or contact your HP Account
Support Representative to add hard disks. Therefore, it might take time to
solve the problem.
