40 Continuous Access XP Journal operations requirements and restrictions
Requirements and Restrictions for Continuous Access XP Journal
One-to-one volume copy operations
NOTE: Continuous Access XP Journal does not support operations in which one primary data volume is
copied to more than one secondary data volume, or more than one primary data volume is copied to one
secondary data volume.
Because Continuous Access XP Journal operates on logical volumes rather than files, multivolume files
require special attention. For complete duplication and recovery of a multivolume file (for example, a
large database file spanning several volumes), ensure that all the file’s volumes are copied to the
Continuous Access XP Journal secondary data volume, and use Continuous Access XP Journal to ensure
update sequence consistency across this group of secondary data volumes.
Logical unit (LU) types
The following DKC and DKU emulation types can be used for Continuous Access XP Journal.
Continuous Access XP Journal displays the emulation types of primary and secondary data volumes.
Table 10 lists the volumes and volume capacities that can be used for Continuous Access XP Journal data
and journal volumes.
NOTE: The capacity of a journal volume is not included in the accounting capacity.
