System Battery
The servers have a memory function that requires a battery for retaining stored
information.
System Board Battery Replacement
When the server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time, you may
need to replace the battery that provides power to the real-time clock. Under normal
use, battery life is usually about 5 to 10 years. Use an HP 540-mAh, lithium, 3-volt
replacement battery (CR 2032). The HP spare part number for the battery is
175115-001.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment,
do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an
important safety feature.
WARNING: Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that
is easily accessible at all times.
WARNING: To remove all power from the server, unplug the power cord from
either the electrical outlet or the server or other product. If there is more than
one power cord, all cords must be unplugged before all power is removed from
the server.
To install a new battery:
1. If the server is on, remove power from the system. For detailed instructions, refer
to “Powering Down the Server” in Chapter 3, “Installing Hardware Options.”
