CAUTION: Be sure to power down the server when performing these procedures in
a server that is not configured for hot-plug mirrored memory.
Observe the following warnings when performing a hot-plug replacement procedure:
WARNING: Always comply with all electrostatic and thermal guidelines to
prevent bodily injury and ensure a properly functioning system when
performing hot-plug operations. For detailed information, refer to Appendix B,
“Electrostatic Discharge,” in the setup and installation guide on the
Documentation CD.
WARNING: The hot-plug door provides access to hazardous energy circuits.
To avoid risk of injury or damage to the equipment from hazardous energy, be
sure the door remains locked during normal operation or install the server in a
controlled access location.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hazardous energy or
damage to the equipment when working on energized servers:
• Remove all watches, rings, and any other loose fitting jewelry.
• Avoid the use of conductive tools inside the server that could bridge live
parts.
Removing a Memory Board
CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Be sure you
are properly grounded before beginning any installation procedure.
To remove a memory board:
1. If the server is not configured for hot-plug mirrored memory, you must power
down the server. Refer to “Powering Down the Server” in Chapter 3, “Installing
Hardware Options,” in the setup and installation guide on the Documentation
CD.
Hot-replacement procedure: If the server is configured for hot-plug mirrored
memory, skip to step 2.
