Internal Hot-Plug Drives
The Compaq ProLiant ML530 server standard configuration consists of six
1-inch hot-pluggable Wide Ultra2 SCSI and Wide Ultra3 SCSI drives in a
single six-bay drive cage with a SCSI backplane. To upgrade to a total of
twelve 1-inch hot-pluggable Wide Ultra2 SCSI and Wide Ultra3 SCSI drives,
another six-bay drive cage with SCSI backplane must be installed.
IMPORTANT: When the second six-bay hot-plug SCSI drive cage and backplane option is
added, you must add a second power supply.
For further information about media bay configurations, refer to Chapter 2,
“Installing Hardware Options.”
Fixed Internal Media Drive Bays
The Compaq ProLiant ML530 server supports two preinstalled media bays:
IDE CD-ROM drive
3.5-inch 1.44-MB diskette drive
Removable Media Drive Bays
The Compaq ProLiant ML530 server has two bays available for removable
media drives or a digital linear tape (DLT) drive, but it does not support
non-hot-plug drives. A removable media cable is provided in the removable
media bay. This cable can be connected to either embedded SCSI channel or to
any other SCSI or array controller. It also can be left disconnected if not
needed.
