The manual installation method requires these steps:
■ Create the Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51
or 4.0, depending on which version of Windows NT you are going to
install
■ Create the Windows NT boot diskettes
■ Install the Windows NT Operating System
Creating the Compaq Support Software for
Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 or 4.0
1. Boot from the SmartStart and Support Software CD.
2. Select Create Support Software from the SmartStart initial screen.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to create the Microsoft
Windows NT SSD.
Creating the Microsoft Windows NT
Boot Diskettes
1. Insert the Microsoft Windows NT CD into a system running DOS,
Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 98.
2. From the I386 directory on the CD, execute the following command:
G Under DOS execute:
WINNT/OX
G Under Microsoft Windows NT/95/98 execute:
WINNT32/OX
NOTE: The NT boot diskettes are created in reverse order, that is, first disk 3, then disk 2,
and finally disk 1.
Installing the Windows NT 3.51
Operating System
1. Boot from the Windwos NT 3.51 Setup Boot Diskette.
2. Press F5 at the first blue text screen (Windows NT Setup will be
displayed in the upper left corner, no other text will be displayed).
