Chapter 1
Preparing the Server
This chapter provides the procedures required to prepare a
Compaq ProLiant ML350 server to be mounted into a Compaq 19-inch rack.
To mount the server into a rack, you will need the following tools:
■ Torx T-15 screwdriver
■ Torx T-10 screwdriver
■ Phillips screwdriver
Preparing the server involves the following steps:
Step 1: Unpacking and identifying option kit contents
Step 2: Powering down the server
Step 3: Removing tower-specific chassis components
Step 4: Installing rack-mountable specific chassis components
IMPORTANT: As with any upgrade, be sure you have created a backup of all your data
before you begin.
