1. Build a fresh ROMPaq diskette, using the latest version for the server
involved.
NOTE: If the ROM is corrupted by a ROMPaq interruption, the initial ROMPaq attempt may
have affected the contents of the original diskette.
2. Power down the server.
3. Set configuration switch position 4 on the system configuration switch
block to ON to enable disaster mode.
Refer to Chapter 4 in the Compaq ProLiant ML350 Troubleshooting
Guide for an illustration of the location of this switch block, as well as
an explanation of different configuration switch settings.
4. Insert the ROMPaq diskette. Although you will utilize a normal
ROMPaq diskette, this situation will not allow you to save the old
image.
5. Power on the server. The keyboard, mouse and monitor are all inactive.
The server will make two long beeps, to indicate that you are in Disaster
Recovery Mode.
6. The server will read the diskette for the latest ROM image. If the
diskette is not in place, the system will continue to beep until a valid
ROMPaq diskette is inserted.
The ROMPaq diskette will then flash the system ROM.
7. At the successful completion of this process, the system will beep in a
sequence of ascending tones.
Or, if the flash is not successful, the system will beep in a sequence of
descending tones.
8. After successful completion of this process,
a. Power down the server.
b. Reset the system configuration switch (position 4) to ON.
c. Power up the server as usual.
Or, after a failed ROMPaq, power down the server and repeat the above
process.
