Installing Node 2
To install the Quick Install software on node 2, use the following steps:
IMPORTANT: Do not reboot node 2 until after the installation on node 1 is complete and
node 1 has been rebooted.
NOTE: To save time, you can install both nodes simultaneously. Insert the CDs into the
servers, power up the servers, and follow the procedures for each node at the same time.
1. Power up node 2, and then insert the Quick Install CD for node 2 into
the CD-ROM drive. Wait while node 2 boots from the CD. A warning
message indicates that data will be lost.
2. Press Enter to continue, or power down the system to abort the
installation.
The software begins to load and a progress bar indicates the installation
progress. When the software has been loaded, a screen displays a
request for the interconnect information.
3. Accept the default values or enter the interconnect address for node 1,
the interconnect address for node 2, and the netmask.
IMPORTANT: If you supply information here, this information must match the information
that you supplied for the first node. See step 3e of “Installing the Node 1” earlier in this
chapter. The option to load or save this information to a disk is not available.
Wait until a message indicates that the installation is complete. Wait
until node 1 has rebooted.
4. Remove the CD, and then press Enter to reboot.
NOTE: Node 2 joins the cluster after the licensing step has been completed on node 1.
IMPORTANT: If any nodes are shut down and then brought back into the cluster,
including the first time that the second node joins the cluster, make sure that the system
has fully recovered before shutting down any other part of the system. Full recovery
includes the recovery of any mirrored file system, which may take an extended amount of
time to complete. To make sure that the mirroring has completed, enter the vxprint
command and check that the TUTILO column has no ATT or ATT1 entries.
