This chapter describes basic administrative procedures related to remote access and monitoring and
completes the setup procedu res that were started in the HP ProLiant Data Protection Storage Ser ver
installation guide that comes with your ser ver.
Remote Browser
This method of remote access allows you to place a DHCP-enabled storage server on a DH CP-enabled
network and browse to the ser ver. Knowing the serial number of the storage ser ver and its IP address,
you c an log in to a network port. Instructions for setting up Remote Browser are explained in the HP
ProLiant Da
ta Protection Storage Ser ver installation guide that is provided with the ser ver.
Connecting to the storage server permits you to access the HP Data Protection Storage Server
Management console. From the c onsole, you can ac cess snap-ins that allow complete server system
management

Remote Desktop through the HP Data Protection Storage
Server Management console
Remote Desktop provides the ability for you to log on to and remotely administer your serv er, giving you
a method of m anag ing it from any client. Installed for remote administration, Remote Desktop allows only
two concurrent sessions. Leaving a session running takes up one license and can affect other users. If
two sessions are running, additional users will be denied access.
