Use scenarios
Depending on the
needs of your b usiness, you can configure the Data Protection Storage Server for use
in a local area n
etwork (LAN) environment or for use across a wide-area network (WAN) environment. In
both cases, the Data Protection Storage Server provides end-users with the abilit y to restore data across
the network without the intervention of a system administrator.
The following figures show two example deployment scenarios. Figure 1 shows a typical Data Protection
Storage Server
deployment in a small-to-medium business environment. In this example, the Da ta
Protection St
orage Server provides backup services and snapshot capability for local, LAN-attached
file servers.
