Setup Utility Primary Menus
The Setup Utility’s menu bar displays the six primary menu selections. Table 3-2 lists these
menus and their corresponding functions.
Table 3-2: Setup Utility's Primary Menus
Menu Function
Main Use this menu to:
Set the system time and date.
Select the type of diskette drive type.
Configure drive settings for available IDE and SATA devices.
Select which options to run during system boot-up.
View the amount of available conventional and extended memory detected during boot-up.
Advanced Use this menu to:
Clear all configuration data in a section of memory for ESCD (Extended System Configuration
Data) which stores the configuration settings for non-PnP plug-in devices.
Enable or disable support for the legacy USB bus.
Configure settings for available PCI devices.
Configure settings for the PCI chipset (U16), as well as enable or disable the onboard LAN and
VGA controllers (U13 and U22).
Enable or disable the processor’s Hyper-Threading function, and set its internal frequency multiplier.
Hyper-Threading (HT) is an Intel technology that enables a processor to execute two threads in
parallel—allowing the system to multi-task more effectively thus significantly boosts computing
performance.
Configure settings for the I/O ports.
Configure settings for hardware protection. For detailed procedures on how to this, go to the
“Setting Hardware Protection” section in this chapter.
Configure console redirection settings to allow the system to be displayed on a remote terminal
for online server management.
View the pre-failure system threshold levels for hardware monitoring. This function is only
applicable if a BMC card is installed in the server.
Configure settings for the IPMI function.
CAUTION: Be cautious in setting field values in this menu as any incorrect value may cause the
system to malfunction.
