Installing the Server
Installation Choices
There are two basic installation choices for your Compaq ProLiant DL580
server. You can use the Compaq optional installation service to install your
server, or you can install the server using the procedures in this chapter.
Compaq Optional Installation Service
You may choose the optional installation service offered by Compaq to install
your rack products. The installation service can be customized to meet your
specific requirements or can be ordered as a standard Compaq CarePaq™.
The basic installation service covers the entire hardware installation, from
unpacking the components to connecting to a network and running a test of the
system. Hardware installation service is available in all countries where
Compaq has a direct or indirect service presence. It may be ordered from an
authorized Compaq authorized reseller or, in the United States, by calling
Compaq at 1-800-OK-COMPAQ.
Using the Procedures in this Chapter
This chapter provides information and instructions for installing your
Compaq ProLiant DL580 server. The installation sequence includes:
